Archie is a husband, father and active church member who served our country in the U.S. Army. He is active in the community and has held leadership roles in several organizations dedicated to improving the lives of everyone. He is a proven innovative leader who initiates change and gets things done. He has been a Kutztown Borough Council member for the past 7 years. He co-founded the Kutztown Chamber of Commerce in 1988.
Archie believes that it is time for us to have a representative in Pennsylvania Government who will truly "represent" our priorities for a change. Archie is not afraid to tackle the tough issues: fiscal responsibility, ethics and transparency in government, and energy independence. He has been described as a person that “has a down to earth quality” who is honest to a fault, and always willing to help someone in need.
That’s why we can trust Archie to change the way Harrisburg does business and return state government to the people.
Archie was born and raised on a fruit, berry and vegetable farm near Kempton, PA within an extended family all of whom worked on the farm.
After serving in the U.S. Army from 1970-1971, he worked in the oil & gas business in Wichita, Kansas, where he realized, long before it was popular, that U.S. energy independence would be essential for our security and survival. These early experiences inspired him to create the 1st annual PA Renewable Energy and Sustainable Living Festival held in September 2005, in Kempton, PA. The goal of the festival is to inform and educate the public on renewable energy production, energy efficiency, and sustainable living.
He met Virginia Grim in high school, and they were married in 1975. Virginia (Gini) has her doctorate in Audiology, has a private practice in their home and has worked for the Berks County Intermediate Unit. For the past ten years she has worked as an educational audiologist for the Boyertown, Brandywine Heights and Kutztown Area School Districts.
Archie and Gini have one daughter, Courtney Follweiler, who resides in Brooklyn, NY. Courtney received her B.S from the University of Colorado. She has a master's degree from Pratt University and is working as a movement therapist at Inter-Faith Hospital in Brooklyn , N.Y.
Archie’s father, Archie Sr., and his sister, Jodi Follweiler still reside in Kempton , PA where they own and operate the Kempton Country Inn.
